GetAwayDays, USA Program Description
GetAwayDays, USA (“GAD”) is a non-profit offering young people in challenging life circumstances a chance to experience new ways of thinking and living by using Christ-centered experiential learning in high adventure, overnight camp settings. The intent of the leaders is to come alongside the young people and challenge them physically, spiritually, and emotionally to show the campers how truly capable they are so that these truths go with them into their daily lives. GetAwayDays was developed in Europe and has active camps in Austria, Germany, and Jordan. GetAwayDays, USA (“GAD”) is a non-profit based in Knoxville, TN and is the first of its program in the United States.
Job Description
GAD is seeking a Managing Director to build the program in our community. GAD has been in Knoxville and the surrounding area since 2020, and this position requires a person that is organized, flexible, is a pioneer and can assist in developing a program. The Director would lead high adventure, overnight, outdoor week-long camps throughout the year and organize monthly events for the youth as follow-up to the camps. The Director would meet with non-profits, churches, staff of the juvenile court systems and other groups in our community to find out how GAD can continue to develop a program to assist the youth in our community.
Responsibilities of this Role
- Work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers of GAD in informing, assessing and addressing issues that affect the organization
- Oversee daily operations of the organization while providing direction and expansion of the program
- Lead week-long, high adventure camps throughout the year
- Lead follow-up activities with youth throughout the year
- Represent the organization and increase awareness of the program by being the spokesperson and liaison with the community and through social media
- Assist in fundraising for GAD

- Personal relationship with Jesus
- Ability and willingness to potentially supplement salary with raised support
- Excitement and creativity to share beliefs and life skills with youth in new and fresh ways
- A heart for young people from challenging backgrounds
- Leadership skills to lead camps, train volunteers, and lead a growing team of staff and volunteers.
- Ability to present GAD in different settings, with churches, non-profits, juvenile courts and on social media
- Entrepreneurial mindset with an innovative approach to business planning
- Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization
- Good physical fitness
- Experience and enjoyment of the outdoors. Outdoor experience is needed, but necessary skills can and will be trained.
- Willingness to fundraise
